LaSalle Grad’s Son Signs To Play WMU Football

Phil Swanson, son of Ralph (1965 LaSalle alumnus) and Cheri Swanson of Grand Haven, signed a National Letter of Intent to a full ride Division I scholarship to study and play football at Western Michigan University (WMU).

Swanson, a 6-4, 305-pound offensive and defensive lineman for the Bucs of Grand Haven, earned all-state first team honors, ranked 22nd on the Blue Chip list by The Detroit News, received allleague and area honors, along with being named most valuable player.

With a 3.6 grade point average, the younger Swanson also is sports editor for the Bucs Blade school newspaper and plans to major in journalism at WMU.
