Desi Derusha Engadine Desi Derusha Engadine Engadine finished 6-5 during the Lake Superior State University Invitational Saturday, February 11, and dropped a non-conference match to Newberry Thursday, February 9.

In the Invitational, the Eagles defeated Mackinaw City 25-6 and 25-11, won two of three from Pickford 25-14, 22-25, and 15-11, won one of three from St. Basil 2125, 25-13, and 13-15 and Gladstone 15-25, 25-22, and 9-15.

Elicia Derusha led the Eagles with 14 aces, 73 attacks, 34 kills, and four block kills; Rose Paquin added nine aces with three jumps serves, 64 attacks, and 28 kills; Desi Derusha chipped in 20 attacks, four kills, and one block kill; Katie Kerridge notched 15 attacks, nine kills, and four block kills; Shauni Rutledge tallied seven attacks and four kills; Kristyn Emery marked four aces; Tristina Browning counted two aces, and Chloe Fletcher recorded three aces and c o n t r i b u t e d o u t s t a n d i n g play from the back row position. Chloe Fletcher Engadine Chloe Fletcher Engadine Kristyn Emery recorded four aces; Rose Paquin chipped in two aces, 43 attacks, 18 kills, and five digs; Nicole Benoit added two aces, 99 sets, 25 assists, eight attacks, and three kills; Elicia Derusha notched one ace, 25 attacks, 11 digs, and eight kills; Katie Kerridge tallied eight attacks, two kills, and one block; Lara Peters charted seven attacks and two kills; Desi Derusha marked seven attacks and one kill, and Chloe Fletcher counted five digs.

"We lost Whittney Kerridge, our floor leader, to an ankle sprain and she will probably be out for two weeks," said Eagles Coach Kathy Miller.

Engadine closes out its regular season with three conference matches, against Brimley (February 16), Cedarville (February 20), and Pickford (February 27).

Engadine junior varsity volleyball team defeated Newberry 2624 and 25-18, Cedarville 21-16 and 21-17, Pickford 26-24, 15-25, and 15-13, and Rudyard 25-18, 2517, and 25-20 to improve to 14-01 on the season and 4-0 in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference.

At Newberry, Tristina Browning led the Eagles with 10 points, four aces, 15 sets, and three assists; Shauni Rutledge added nine points, three aces, four attacks, and three kills; Jamie Mason chipped in eight points and two aces; Kristen Derusha notched 14 sets and one assist; Chantel Rodriquez tallied six attacks and two kills, and Lauren MacArthur charted four attacks and two kills.

Mason led the Eagles at Cedarville with 14 points and three aces; Browning added six points, two aces, 23 sets, and five assists; Rutledge chipped in eight attacks and six kills; Rodriquez notched five attacks and three kills; MacArthur tallied six attacks and three kills, and Derusha charted eight sets, two assists, two blocks, and two block kills.

Browning led the Eagles against the Panthers with 10 points, three aces, 35 sets, and nine assists. Derusha added nine points, five aces, 24 sets, and one assist; Rutledge chipped in 14 attacks and nine kills; Mason notched 12 attacks and eight kills, and Rodriquez tallied 10 attacks and eight kills.

Mason recorded 16 points and five aces against the Bulldogs. Tristina Browning added 11 serves, three aces, 30 sets, and 10 assists; Shannon Browning marked 10 points and one ace; MacArthur charted 13 attacks and six kills; Rodriquez tallied seven attacks and four kills; Derusha registered 26 sets and six assists, and Rutledge counted six attacks and three kills.
