Charlie's Angels Win OT Thriller in Girls Hockey
Charlie's Angels of Mackinaw City won the Fourth Annual Chicks With Sticks 16 and Under Hockey Tournament in Mackinaw City Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26.
Mackinaw City won the wildcard position to qualify for the playoffs, and in the finals defeated Flint Sabres 4-3 in overtime.
Charlie's Angels held a 2-0 lead after the first period and Mackinaw City added another score in the third period before Flint tied the game at 3 to send it into overtime.
Three minutes into the extra period, Page Paul took the pass from Tara Brody and scored the winning goal. Mackinaw City defeated Cheboygan 5-2, Alpena 3-1, and Mt. Pleasant 10-0 and fell to Cheboygan 2-0 in the qualifying round. Most Valuable Player trophies were awarded to Kristina Heilman, Tara Brody, Page Paul, Jessica Thibeault, and goalie Erin Raymond.
Charlie's Angels team is comprised of girls from Mackinaw City, St. Ignace, Kinross, Cheboygan, and Carp Lake.
The team is coached by Charlie Heilman.
