Think spring, think spring! If we keep saying this, maybe it will happen faster. The blue skies and bright sunshine sure do wonders for your spirits. We're all hoping this will continue.
There will be a benefit dinner and silent auction for Tara Beckwith at the Whitefish Inn in Curtis Sunday, March 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. They will be serving homemade spaghetti with salad bar for $5.95. During the dinner there will be a silent auction going on. Cash donations and/or auction items will be appreciated. If you have any questions, call Kelly Murray at the Whitefish Inn at (906) 586-6606.
Easter is just around the corner, and that means it's time for Sayklly Easter Eggs. The deadline for placing orders for the eggs and/or bunnies is Friday, March 24. Proceeds from the sale go to benefit the 4-H activities, a very worthy organization. They do so much for our kids. The money from the egg and bunny sale will go to defray the cost of the teens to attend 4-H Exploration Days at Michigan State University. If you don't know a representative from 4H, call the office at (906) 293-3203.
Speaking of the 4-H teens, the Teen Action group is reforming, branching out, and seeking energetic and fun-loving teens ages 12 and older to volunteer to help 4-H help those in your community that are in need. They volunteer to help others while having fun at the same time. For more information, call (906) 293-3203.
As an aging Happy Days fan, I was thrilled to see the announcement last week that the Happy Days cast will be headlining the St. Ignace Antique Auto Show in June. If at all possible, I would love to be there. This is certainly one television show that I still enjoy seeing the re-runs of yet today. It hasn't been too many months ago that we watched a reunion show of the entire Happy Days cast. They still all looked great. I will be watching for the schedule for the auto show.
Another benefit dinner will be held Sunday, March 26, at the VFW Hall in Manistique from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., for Rick and Pam Weber, who lost their home in a fire Sunday, February 12. Everything was lost, house and contents. The insurance will cover the cost of building them a smaller home, in the community that they love, but the contents will be difficult, and sometimes impossible, to replace. Pam was a 4-H leader, community volunteer, and always ready and eager to extend a helping hand. Now they're on the other side of the fence and need your help. Through this tragedy, the community now has a chance to give back to them. They want to thank you in advance for all your generosity. For more information, call (906) 341-3688. The spaghetti dinner, donated by the Big Boy, includes salads, garlic bread, beverages, and dessert bar. They will have an hourly 50/50 drawing, silent auction, Tundra Lodge drawing, and music by Darrel Dixson.
Spring is definitely here. There was an advertisement last week for a Dairy Kream that has opened for the season. Now that has to be a sign of spring for sure. I will be checking that out.
