Happy first day of spring! With the cold temperatures, it doesn't feel much like spring, but the sunny blue skies are a welcome sight. Many of our fine feathered friends are returning to the area and are being spotted by area residents, another sign of spring.

Village and area residents were devastated by the fire that totaled The Cow Barn and Fortino's Pizzeria. The Cow Barn was a popular place in the summer to buy icecream treats. We will sorely miss the ice cream and the delicious pizzas. The Stocking family plans on rebuilding.

The snowmobile season is just about over. There are still many returning to the area to enjoy it before the trails are completely worn out. Groups are still getting together to continue the enjoyment of snowshoeing. The groups have commented how cold it has been, but still the activity is very enjoyable.

Parents and children are looking forward to spring break next week. Many are heading south for different locations and many have decided to spend the week at home "catching up."

Anne Stafford, after 30 years of service for the Village of DeTour, retired at the end of January. Anne's two daughters hosted an open house Monday, January 30, at the DeTour Village Hall. The Village presented Anne with a check for three weeks paid vacation as a thank you for her service.
