Shane Viilo Detour Area Schools has named Shane Viilo, Matthew Gratowski, Emily Bosley, Trevor Warner, Alysan Bosley, Harry Reinfelder, Chris Spohn, and Victoria Mills its students of the month for January and February.

Shane Viilo is the son of Sue Viilo, and a sixth grade student at Drummond Island Elementary School. He is described as a "diligent student" who maintains a positive attitude. He is helpful to classmates, and "a good sport," teachers said.

Matthew Gratowski is the son of Janis and Paul Gratowski, and a second grade student at Drummond Island Elementary School. He is described by teachers as outgoing, friendly, and competitive. He challenges his classmates in reading, mathematics, and computers, and he "encourages good work from all," teachers said.

Emily Bosley is the daughter of Paula and Jeff Bosley and in the fourth grade at DeTour Elementary School. She is known as a responsible student who always turns her work in on time. She shows a caring attitude toward other students, teachers said, and "is very helpful to other students."

Trevor Warner is the son of Nichole and Paul Warner, and is in kindergarten at DeTour Elementary School. He enjoys sharing stories in the classroom, and he likes helping friends in the classroom by "doing things he doesn't have to do, like pushing in their chairs." Teachers say he is an important part of the classroom.

Matthew Gratowski Alysan Bosley, the daughter of Roxanne and Dale Bosley and Teresia and Royce Lipinski, is in the sixth grade at DeTour Middle School. She is hard-working, responsible, and courteous, according to teachers, and is always upbeat and smiling. She is also involved with the track, basketball, and volleyball teams.

Harry Reinfelder is the son of Carolyn and Harry Reinfelder, and is in the eighth grade at DeTour Middle School. His teachers say he has made academic improvements in all of his classes, and is active in extracurricular activities. He participates and volunteers in class, and helps his teachers. Teachers said he "brings manners and a positive attitude wherever he goes."

Chris Spohn, a sophomore at DeTour High School, is the daughter of Juanita and Chris Spohn. She is a conscientious and hard-working student who has a positive attitude and is always willing to help other students, teachers said.

Emily Bosley Victoria Mills is the daughter of Judith and Butch Mills, and a freshman at DeTour High. She is a well mannered, hard-working student who always has a positive attitude, teachers said, and has a great deal of curiosity and often asks excellent questions. Considerate and courteous to her fellow students, she is regarded by staff as a pleasure to have in the classroom.

Autore Oil, Dockside Cafe, McDonald's Restaurant, the Worden family, and Doc Holle's Silver Mountain donated prizes to DeTour Area Schools for the students of the month.
