Helen Sims
Helen Evelyn Sims of Cedarville passed away March 13, 2006, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 17, 1916, in Stalwart, to Chester and Mabel (nee Waybrant) Crawford.
She married Robert Francis "Frank" Sims in Stalwart, October 13, 1934, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sims liked reading and needlework, but enjoyed her family most in life, friends recalled.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Kelly of St. Ignace; three sons and their families, Jim and Dorothy Sims of Big Rapids, Roger and Dolores Sims of Alpena, Frank and Lisa Sims of Pickford; three daughters and their families, Carole and David Hooper of DeTour Village, Mabel Elizabeth and Frank Soderlund of Cedarville, and Sherry Preston of Cedarville; 13 grandsons Dan, David, and Steven Sims, Douglas and Donald Hooper, Ricardo Wade, Roger Jr., and Scott Sims, Todd and Cory Soderlund, Rob and Phillip Preston, and Caleb Sims; eight grand-daughters, Linda Littke, Laurel Hamel, Pamela Craner, Lori Kremsieter, Carol Brown, Frances Hooper, and Jessey and Becky Sims; 31 great-grandchildren, and nine great-greatgrandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Crawford and Jim Crawford; one daughter, Frances Helen Sutton; one son-inlaw, Don Preston; two grandsons, Roderick "Rory" Hooper and Guy Wade; one granddaughter, Libby Sims, and one great-grandson, Teagan Hooper.
Visitation was Friday, March 17, at the Les Cheneaux Christian Fellowship church in Cedarville. The funeral followed at the church.
Memorial donations can be made to Les Cheneaux Christian Fellowship church of Cedarville or Stalwart Presbyterian Church of Stalwart.
Ross Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the Sims family with arrangements.
