Girl Scouts Seek Soldiers' Names

2006-05-04 / News

The Cadette and Senior Girl Scout Troop of St. Ignace, made up of girls ages 12 to 16, is collecting names of local soldiers serving overseas to send them boxes of donated Girl Scout Cookies. About five cases of cookies have been donated for the soldiers through the Girl Scout "Gift of Caring" program, reported leader Susan Horn.

Currently the scouts have the name of one local soldier serving in Iraq, but would like to obtain names and addresses of at least four more service men or women. If more than five names are received, the cookies will be divided equally among all the service people, Mrs. Horn said.

To share the name and mailing address of any overseas service people with ties to the St. Ignace area, call Mrs. Horn at 643-6245 (leave a detailed message), or mail the information to 152 Bayshore Road, St. Ignace, Michigan 49781.
