Richard Gilchrist Richard Gilchrist Richard Charles Gilchrist, 68, of Cedarville, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.

He was born July 12, 1937, in Pontiac to Harvey Lewis and Dorothy Marie (nee Grosjean) Gilchrist.

He grew up in the Pontiac area and was graduated from Waterford Township High School. He earned his mechanical engineering degree at GMI.

Mr. Gilchrist worked for 31 years at General Motors Truck and Bus Division. He served as a Reserve Police Officer in Waterford for several years and was also a member of the area Jaycees. When he retired in 1988, he moved to Cedarville.

Mr. Gilchrist enjoyed golfing, boating, bowling, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Alice (nee Bennett), whom he married December 10, 1960 in Pontiac; three children and their families, Keith and Kim Gilchrist of Auburn Hills, Lisa Gilchrist of Highland, and Kevin and Heidi Gilchrist of Webberville; and two grandsons, Wesley Brown and Ian Gardner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 10, at 3 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 731231718.
