Harry Alvin Nettleton, 95, of Pickford, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Tendercare Nursing Home in Sault Ste. Marie.

He was born February 18, 1911, in Pickford to Samuel James and Laura Emma (nee Blair) Nettleton.

He grew up in Pickford and married Hazel Hancock September 8, 1937 in Pickford.

Mr. Nettleton worked in farming, logging, and construction. He enjoyed being in the woods and caring for horses, working his horses both in the woods and on the farm. Mr. Nettleton also worked on Mackinac Island during his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three daughters and their families, Linda and George Buriak of Sault Ste. Marie, Colleen and Bob Gawrylowicz of Caro, and Charleen and Bill North of Bloomington, Minnesota; one nephew, whom he raised, James Hancock of Pickford; 11 grandchildren and their families, Michael and Debbie Buriak, Nancy and John Larsen, Paul Buriak, Angela and Chuck Cardamoni, Anthony Cardamoni, Tessa Gawrylowicz, Jessi North, Joseph North, Rebecca Hancock, Erica Hancock, and Johnathan Hancock; and eight greatgrandchildren, Jake Larsen, Drew Larsen, Michael Buriak Jr., Dustin Daniels, Tristian Kirkland, Makayla Kirkland, Crymson Cardamoni, and Chloe Cardamoni. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Anderson of Pickford, Eva Anderson of Minnesota, and Edna Bawks of Pickford, and one brother and his family, Barney and Marjorie Nettleton of Pickford.

Mr. Nettleton was preceded in death by his son, Frederick James Nettleton, in 1956 and by his brothers, Russell Nettleton and Glen Nettleton.

Services were held Friday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, with the Reverend Ron Bown of the Pickford United Presbyterian Church officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will be in Rockview Cemetery in Marquette Township.
