Saints Baseball Splits Three Doubleheaders; Softball Gets a Sweep
St. Ignace baseball team completed the week of three doubleheaders with a 3-3 record after sweeping Vanderbilt, splitting with Harbor Light Christian (HLC), and dropping both games to Sault High.

The Saints offense recorded 28 hits and 30 runs during the 13-3 and 17-4 non-conference victories at Vanderbilt Wednesday, April 26.
St. Ignace scored five runs in the first inning, single runs in the second, third, and fourth, and added five runs in the fifth, led by Kyle Spencer with two hits, two runs, and one RBI. Zach Schroder chipped in two hits, one run, and one RBI. Kyle O'Boyle notched one hit and two RBI's. Tyler Huskey tallied two runs and one RBI. James Peterson charted one hit, one run, and one RBI. Robbie Robinson, Justin Emery, and Bryant Danielson marked one hit and one run each, and Jeffrey Gamble and Dan Olsen counted one run and one RBI.
During the second game, the Saints exploded for 13 runs in the second inning and chipped in two runs in the first and third innings en route to the win over the Yellowjackets.
Spencer notched three hits, two runs, and three RBI's. O'Boyle added three hits, one run, and one RBI. Huskey chipped in two hits, three runs, and two RBI's. Peterson tallied two hits, one run, and three RBI's. Shawn Cowell charted two hits, one run and one RBI. Schroder marked one hit, two runs, and two RBI's. Emery counted two hits and one run. Gamble and Olsen contributed one hit and two runs. Lewie Mullins charted one hit and one run. Wade McKenzie scored one run, and Danielson registered one hit.
"During the week we have played well at times, but the little mistakes have hurt us," said Saints Coach Louie Grondin. "We continue to work hard and play with intensity and that is important to finish the remainder of the season and into the tournaments."

With Swordsmen
The Saints split with HLC in a non-conference matchup, winning the opener 2-1, but falling to the Swordsmen 4-3 in the nightcap Saturday, April 29.
Spencer pitched six innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine, and added two hits. Mullins chipped in two hits, Peterson added one hit, one run, and one RBI, O'Boyle scored one run, Olsen notched one hit, and Gamble recorded one RBI. St. Ignace scored single runs in the second and the six innings.
The Swordsmen scored two runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead before the Saints answered with three runs in the third, but fell one run short of tying the game.
Gamble notched two hits and scored one run, Huskey added one hit and one run, Olsen scored one run, Peterson tallied one hit, and Spencer tallied one RBI.
Baseball Drops Pair to Sault
St. Ignace dropped a home Straits Area Conference doubleheader to Sault High 8-5 and 9-4 Monday, April 24.
The Saints took first-inning leads in both games, but couldn't hang on as the Blue Devils posted victories.
In the opener, O'Boyle tallied three hits and one run, Peterson chipped in two hits and one run, Huskey added one hit and scored two run, Spencer charted one hit and one run, and Andy Tamlyn and Mullins marked one hit each.
Olsen, Peterson, and Huskey notched one hit and one run apiece. Cowell and Danielson notched one hit, and O'Boyle scored one run.
Sault High scored two runs in the second inning, one in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth during the first game, and tallied one run in the first, three in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth in the nightcap.
Softball Team Downs Vandy;
Falls to HLC, Sault High
St. Ignace softball team defeated Vanderbilt in a non-league doubleheader Wednesday, April 26, but dropped twinbills to Harbor Light Christian (HLC) Saturday, April 29, and Sault High Monday, April 24.
St. Ignace scored 40 runs on 29 hits in the doubleheader win over Vanderbilt, 22-1 and 18-11.
The Saints exploded for 17 runs in the third inning after scoring five in the second, and were led by Marcie Rickley with three hits, scored two runs, and three RBI's. Tabitha Wright added two hits, three runs, and three RBI's. Alyssa Pechta chipped in two hits, three runs, and two RBI's. Laura Rickley notched one hit, three runs, and three RBI's. Cally Klimczak tallied one hit, three runs, and two RBI's. Emily Sposito charted two hits, two runs, and two RBI's. Krista LaVake counted two hits, one run, and two RBI's. Jenny Massaway marked one hit and three runs, and Misti Gamble recorded one hit and scored two runs.
The Yellowjackets held a 11-8 lead after the fourth inning before St. Ignace scored nine runs in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth to post the win.
Tabitha Wright was perfect, with four hits, three runs, and four RBI's, while LaVake added two hits, three runs, and two RBI's. Massaway chipped in two hits, two runs, and one RBI. Samantha Wright notched two hits, one run, and one RBI. Carley Massey scored two runs. Jamie Krug and Laura Rickley each tallied one hit, one run, and one RBI. Molly Therrian and Klimczak charted one hit and one run, and Marcie Rickley and Peereeya Asawaniwed scored one run.
Krug earned two victories on the mound, allowing just three hits and striking out five in the first game.
St. Ignace fell to HLC, 8-1 and 7-1, and were shut out by Sault High, 12-0 and 8-0.
LaVake registered one hit and scored one run and Marcie Rickley and Pechta added one hit in the opener with HLC. Laura Rickley recorded one hit and scored one run, and Sam Wyers and LaVake notched singles in the nightcap. Against Sault High, LaVake and Laura Rickley tallied the only hits for the Saints.
