Dana Neelis of St. Ignace was awarded the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine Friday, May 5.

She is the daughter of Paul and MariLu Neelis of St. Ignace and a 1999 graduate of LaSalle High School.

Ms. Neelis was the recipient of the college's Parasitology Award and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Award for Large Animals.

She plans to complete an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
