Rudyard Names Pavloski, Baker, Salo, Traynor as Class of 2006 Leaders
Nicholas Pavloski Celeste Baker, Nicholas Pavloski, Trenton Salo, and Ashley Traynor have been named valedictorians for the Rudyard High School 2006 graduating class.
Valedictorian Celeste Baker is the daughter of Jeannine and Bruce Baker. Her sister, Chloe, is a graduate of Rudyard High School. She now attends Lake Superior State University and studies nursing.
Celeste Baker has earned a 4.02 grade point average. She plans to attend Northwood University or Aquinas College to study business administration.
She has been involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, and the Youth Advisory Council. She has been a been involved in volleyball, swimming, and dance. She has also taken part in school musicals and various church activities.
Miss Baker is the recipient of the President's Award for Excellence in Academics. She received the Academic Leadership Scholarship from Aquinas College and the Freedom Scholarship from Northwood University.
Valedictorian Nicholas Pavloski is the son of Mark and Sherri Pavloski and brother of Daine Pavloski, a freshman at Rudyard High School.
Celeste Baker Nicholas Pavloski has earned a 4.02 grade point average. He plans to attend Northern Michigan University or Olivet College, where he will pursue a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in psychology.
Mr. Pavloski has been active in leadership activities, including Student Council, serving as vicepresident for the senior class, and he is also a member of the National Honor Society. He was selected as a finalist for the Michigan High School Athletic Association ScholarAthlete Award (MHSAA). Further, Mr. Pavloski is a recipient of the Eastern Upper Peninsula (EUP) Principals Award. He also received recognition as a Straits Area Conference Scholar Athlete.
Mr. Pavloski has excelled in academics, art, and athletics. He has participated in band and drama, playing the male lead in productions of "Hello Dolly" and "Harvey" this year. He has been active in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Mr. Pavloski was selected as an all-conference, second team offensive lineman for Straits Area Conference his junior and senior year. He was designated Most Valuable Player on the offensive line by his football teammates and coaches.
Trenton Salo In his spare time, Mr. Pavloski volunteers at the elementary school, helping students with drama, flag football, and basketball. He also serves as the "voice of the Junior Bulldogs" by announcing at home games.
Valedictorian Trenton Salo is the son of Todd Salo and Wendy Peterson. He has three brothers, Davin, an eighth grade student at Rudyard Middle School, Caleb, a sixth grade student at Rudyard Middle School, and Cameron, a newborn.
Mr. Salo has earned a 4.0 grade point average at Rudyard High School. He plans to attend Northwood University in Midland as a Banking and Finance-Business Management major. He will also play college basketball.
Mr. Salo has excelled in leadership activities by being involved in the Youth Advisory Council and the National Honor Society. He has taken part in productions of "Oklahoma" and "Hello Dolly." Mr. Salo took part in football, basketball, and baseball, and received All-State honors in basketball and football, and All-Region honors in baseball. Mr. Salo has received Academic AllState awards in both basketball and football. As a junior, Mr. Salo received the Principal's Award.
Ashley Traynor Mr. Salo has been an asset to his community by working as a sixth grade camp counselor, a fourth and fifth grade flag football coach, and a Junior Youth Baseball umpire. He helped referee elementary basketball games.
He is a recipient of the Northwood Freedom Scholarship, the Eastern Upper Peninsula Principals Award, the Straits Area Conference Academic-Athletic Award, the Michigan Merit Award, the Michigan Competitive Scholarship, the President's Award for Excellence in Academics, and the Scholastic Achievement Council Award.
Valedictorian Ashley Traynor, daughter of Don and Holly Traynor, earned a 4.033 grade point average. Her younger siblings are Lindsey Traynor, a freshman at Rudyard High School, Alex, a fifth grade student at Turner Howsen, and Ian, age five months.
Miss Traynor plans to major in fine arts this fall at Lake Superior State University (LSSU).
She has been active in music, art, and excelled in academics. She has participated each year in the Rudyard High School Concert and Pep Band, and taken part in instrumental solo and ensemble competitions. She is a Student Council representative.
Miss Traynor is president of the Art Club, and in the past she has been the Art Club's vice -president and a Student Council Representative. She has had artwork displayed in the past two tri-annual art shows and at the Alberta House. Miss Traynor is also a member of the National Honor Society.
She is a recipient of the EUP Principals Award and the Elks Most Valuable Student Award. She has been awarded the LSSU Board of Trustees Distinguished Scholarship, and the Michigan Valedictorian Scholarship.
