Keith R. Smith, 63, of Lakefield Township, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born April 12, 1943, in Pontiac to C. Richard and Eleanor Smith.

He was a graduate of Pompano Beach High School and earned a degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Mr. Smith was self-employed as a residential/commercial builder until his retirement.

For several years, he was a summer resident of Lakefield Township, spending the winter months at Lake Placid, Florida. His hobbies and interests include fishing and automotive repair.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by this father, who died May 6, 2003.

Survivors include his mother, Eleanor Smith, of Lakeview Township, his son, Trent, of Winter Garden, Florida, and daughter, Lauraleigh Avery of Orlando, Florida, and five grandchildren.

No services will be scheduled, as he requested.

Contributions can be made to Luce County Chapter of the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Smith.

Beaulieu Funeral Home of Newberry is assisting the family with the arrangements.
