Paul Davis closed out his outstanding senior season in strong fashion with three individual victories and anchored one winning relay team to lift the St. Ignace boys to a runner-up position, and the Lady Saints finished fourth during the Division 2 track and field finals in Kingsford Saturday, June 3.

Boys Results: Newberry won the championship with 96 points, followed by the Saints with 90, Stephenson 67, Ishpeming/Republic, 58, Munising 55, Norway 42, Westwood 36, Manistique 31, Ironwood 24, Rudyard 19, and Hancock 8.

Davis started the day with victories in the 100-meter dash in 11.27, the 400-meter dash in 52.82, and broke the meet's 200-meter dash mark in 22.70. Jesse Becker, Derrick Clark, and Zach Pierson anchored the 800-meter relay to a win in 1:34.06, breaking another school record.

Derrick Clark won the pole vault with a personal best tie of 12'0," placed second in the high hurdles, and sixth in the low hurdles. Mario Calcaterra finished second in the long jump with a career best leap of 19'3" and took third in the low hurdles.

Zach Pierson placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, Anthony Lester fifth in the high jump, James Sayles sixth in the shot put, and Kyle Smock sixth in the 400-meter dash.

The 1600-meter relay team of Nick Montie, Derek Marshall, Pierson, and Calcaterra finished third. The 3200-meter foursome of Kody King, Calcaterra, Montie, and Marshall placed fifth, and the 400meter relay group of Ben Matelski, Smock, Lester, and Becker finished sixth.

Girls Results: Westwood won the girls title with 82 points, followed by Norway with 79, Hancock 62, the Saints 56, Manistique 46, Ishpeming/Republic 44, Newberry 39, Stephenson 35, Gwinn 32, Ironwood 19, Rudyard 17, and Munising 16.

Cryderman Anchors Saints

Kelsey Cryderman won the 400meter dash in 1:01.41, placed second in the 200-meter dash, and anchored two winning relay teams as the foursome of Ashley St. Louis, Stacee Schnicke, Caysey Brown, and Cryderman won the 400-meter relay event in 53.30 and the 800-meter relay race in 1:51.19.

Jaimee Bloxsom finished second in the pole vault after tying her personal best of 8'6." The 1600-meter relay team of Amanda Coveyou, Schnicke, St. Louis, and Brown placed third. St. Louis took fifth in the 100-meter dash, Coveyou sixth in the high jump, and Schnicke sixth in the low hurdles.

Rudyard Boys/Girls: Travis Clegg finished second in the shot put. Michael Chontos took third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 400-meter dash, and Travis Siegwart sixth in the pole vault for the boys. Brittany Hoolesma placed third in the 1600-meter run and fifth in the 3200-meter run. Allyson Markstrom took third in the high jump, Alisha Thompson fifth in the pole vault, and Courtney Fowler sixth in the long jump.
