The Cedarville fivesome of senior Lauren Izzard, junior Lindsay McLeod, sophomore Katie Bowlby, and freshmen Ashley Sweeney and Billie McLeod have been part of two successful Trojans relay teams that set three records at the Upper Peninsula Finals, along with completing an impressive record during the regular season.
The Trojans started the day at the finals by winning the 3200-meter relay event with Lindsay McLeod, Izzard, Bowlby, and Sweeney in 10:20.07 to set a new meet record. During the final race of the day, the 1600-meter relay foursome of Billie and Lindsay McLeod, Izzard, and Bowlby set a new U.P. meet mark and school record with a time of 4:20.26 to vault the Lady Trojans from fifth place to the third spot. The Cedarville High School previous mark was held by Kara and Lindsay Scherer, Erica Huff, and Jill Clement from the 1993 season, with a time of 4:23.20.
The 3200-meter relay team finished second at the Web Morrison Invitational and at Beal City. The 1600-meter relay foursome placed third at St. Ignace and second at Beal City, while the girls posted victories in the remaining meets.

Cedarville, coached by Tom Wilson, put together the teams and at each meet, depending on the weather, the group has been consistent with their times. In the first meet of the season April 13 at Pickford, the girls ran the 3200-meter relay in 10:57.65 and the 1600-meter relay in 4:27.87, at St. Ignace April 18 in 10:59.03 and 4:37.72, at the Web Morrison April 29 in 10:56.74 and 4:36.41, at Cedarville May 9 in 10:47.11 and 4:31.55, at Engadine's Frank Formolo Invitational May 13 in 10:54.05 and 4:38.62, at Division 3 regionals in Pickford May 19 in 10:55.9 and 4:37.38, and during the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference championships May 25 in 10:34.52 and 4:27.87.
"This is a hard working group of girls," said Trojans Coach Tom Wilson, who has announced his retirement from coaching girls track and basketball for the 2006-07 school year.
"Each girl has a specialty and they work well together. It is not often that you can put four girls from different grades on the same relay team and perform the way they do."
