Rexton-Garnet
Some weeks our tiny towns aren't very newsy, and this week, other than the cold weather, there wasn't much activity going on. Not to say everyone isn't keeping busy, at least trying to keep the tomato plants from freezing, and checking the calendar because the reminders of important things are filling up fast, as usual.
Quiet permeates our tiny towns. Even traffic on the highway doesn't seem to be bumper to bumper.
Condolences to the family of Jim Brownson, who was a longtime teacher at Engadine Consolidated Schools. He took a personal interest in each of the students, even when they weren't on his best side. He always took the time to help the students do the very best they could do.
Continued get well wishes to Ray Derusha, Sonny Browning, and Connie Paquin, who deal daily with health issues.
Nice to see Larry Derusha again. He was up from St. Clair Shores for the weekend, and I'm told acquired a boat for his return trip. While here the family gathered at the Burgess household to bid farewell to Justin Derusha, who will depart for Afghanistan at the end of the month via the U.S. Navy.
Birthday wishes to our oldest grandson, Isaac, who will be eight years old June 13, to a longtime friend and classmate, Katherine Everhart Drury, to Anne Becker, and Tom Prater Jr., all celebrating June 14, Breanna Cobe June 15, niece Heather Livermore June 18, and my mom, Nona Fraleigh, June 19.
Happy anniversary wishes to Pastor Tim and Kathy Miller June 12.
Happy Father's Day to all the great dads, grandpas, uncles, and brothers out there, including some of my own - husband David, son Dave, along with Dave and Ron Beaudoin, Neil Beaudoin, Sam Fraleigh, and Robert LaPine. May you all enjoy the day and be treated in a manner befitting a king, at least for one day.
