USCG Sault Offers Fingerprinting, Oath Process for Merchant Mariners
Those who are interested in applying for a merchant mariner's document, United States Coast Guard license, or a certificate of registry and completing the required fingerprinting and oaths process can do so now at the Coast Guard station in Sault Ste. Marie.
Beginning May 15, the station expanded its services for applicants to complete fingerprinting and take oaths before a designated U.S. Coast Guard official without having to travel to a regional examination center.
Applicants can contact Sector Sault Ste. Marie Investigations Department at (906) 635-3223 to set up an appointment. Appointments must be scheduled with the office at least a week in advance. There are no walk-in appointments available.
Prior to scheduling an appointment, applicants must have a valid application on file at the regional exam center in Toledo and shall have paid the application fee.
Applicants should bring at least two acceptable forms of identification as evidence of citizenship.
