For the Record...

In a story entitled "Top on Garavaglia's List: Roads, Cooperation With Other Townships" published in The St. Ignace News, Thursday, July 27, it should be clarified that Hendricks Township has already paved H-40, where it connects to Hudson Township, said Allyn Garavaglia, township supervisor. The example was intended to put forth the idea that roads should be paved in a logical progression from one area to another, rather than "piecemeal."

In last week's edition, Mackinac County commission candidates Joe Durm and Calvin McPhee were both said to be Republicans, when, in fact, they both are running in next Tuesday's primary as Democrats.

In a story last week entitled "Mackinaw City Increases Internet Services, Supports Housing Project," it should have noted that Mike Reed of Alice's Kandy and Korn in Mackinaw City, not Gaslight Media of Petoskey, will be the party contracting directly with the village to provide the area's second wireless Internet service.

Mr. Reed plans to buy connectivity from Gaslight and to use his own antenna to create an Internet hotspot, he said.

The contract is not yet drafted, said Jeff Lawson, village manager of Mackinaw City.
