As many as 486 bicyclists will be in the Straits of Mackinac area this weekend and should be on Mackinac Island Sunday, August 6.

The group will be the League of Michigan Bicyclists, who are on their 20th Annual West Shoreline Bicycle Tour that started Sunday, July 30, and will end on Mackinac Sunday, August 6.

The group started in Spring Lake, is bicycling up the Lake Michigan shoreline, and plans to be in Mackinaw City Saturday, August 5.

Riders represent residents of 34 different states and Canada and range in age from four years old to 83.

The League of Michigan Bicyclists runs the West Shoreline Tour and five other tours annually to help with its mission to make Michigan a "bicycle friendly state." The group has promoted bicycling around the state for the past 25 years.
