Tom Sherlund (far right), marine deputy for Mackinac County Sheriff's Department, instructs youth during the boater safety class in Cedarville Thursday, August 3, at the Clark Township Fire and Ambulance Hall in Cedarville. The class was the final boater safety course of the season, and Mr. Sherlund instructed 50 students in courses he led in July and August. The Les Cheneaux Islands Association promoted the state-endorsed course. Several adults joined the class. The course teaches boating operation, handling, safety, and rules.
