Walk-In Care Unit To Open This Monday
A new walk-in clinic at Mackinac Straits Hospital is scheduled to open Monday, August 21. The clinic will be accessible through the hospital's main entrance and operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The clinic will not accept appointments.
The walk-in clinic is designed for patients who need immediate care for illnesses such as sore throats, earaches, and fevers, said Tamie Hartwig, the director of Acute Care and the Emergency Department. Patients needing urgent or higher levels of care will be directed to the Emergency Department. A quick medical screening will be provided by an Emergency Room nurse to determine each patient's condition and the level of care needed.
"The staff is excited to be able to serve the community," Mrs. Hartwig said. "We're sure it will be a success."
