St. Ignace Elementary School has scheduled kindergarten orientation for Wednesday, August 23, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Bussing will be provided for families and students and will pick up at about 9 a.m.

The bus trip is designed to help youngsters become familiar with the process of going school, and their families can ride along. Any parent who did not receive a mailing regarding the ride can be added to the route by calling the elementary school office.

Wearing name tags, students and family members will meet the staff and teachers. Aquestion and answer period will take place this year, and students will be able to spend time on the playground. The school is offering all-day kindergarten for 2006/2007.

"We usually fill the bus, and a lot of the kids fall asleep on the way home," Mrs. Ledy said, regarding the orientation trip.

High School registration will take place Monday, August 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for juniors and seniors. Eighth, ninth, and tenth grade students can register Tuesday, August 29, during the same time period.

A kindergarten through seventh grade open house will take place Monday, September 11. This serves as an opportunity for students to show parents around the school and to and meet their teachers.
