Moran Township will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, at the township hall on School House Road to discuss the future of the township building in Brevort.

Randy and Helen Haas entertained nieces and nephews this week at their condominium. Joe Chalmers joined them. Sharon Chalmers met with her friend, Kathy Clancy, in Indian River for lunch this weekend.

Joe and Sharon Chalmers and Del and Sharon Nelson were Sunday evening dinner guests of Horst and Ingrid Daemmrich.

Arthur Daemmrich visited with his parents, Horst and Ingrid, last Wednesday and Thursday. Arthur was in Midland for business and took the opportunity to come north for some time to see his parents.

Get well wishes to Larry First and Dick Gustafson.

Carol and John Watson have returned to their home in Kansas City, Missouri, after a lovely months' stay in Brevort.

Congratulations to Karl and Lynn Yoder on the birth of their son, Carson Lawrence Yoder, on August 11, 2006.

Brian and Jeanne Rose have a little crabapple tree near their home on the beach. The apples are mighty tasty. The seagulls like them too, as I saw one fly off with a red apple in its beak. Unfortunately, the apple fell shortly after take-off.

Barb and Owen Jorgenson attended a family reunion in Traverse City last week. They were treated to a great ride through the city and up into the surrounding hills, which Barb said was "just beautiful." Barb came home with those wonderful cherries from the area.

Megan Gustafson, daughter of Dick and Patsy Gustafson, will be leaving for Michigan State University Tuesday to begin her college years. Our thoughts are with you, Megan, as you begin a new phase of your life.

Dave and I met Linda Gibb's grandson, Tyler Gibb, who has been visiting grandma this summer. Tyler is from the Toledo, Ohio, area and will be in the sixth grade this year. Tyler's father, Johnnie Gibb, lives in Brevort.

I like garden tools, but I really appreciate the ease of deadheading my flowers with an old pair of barber scissors. They are slick.

On Tuesday, Dave and I will enjoy the company of Grace, Kurt and Mikkie Knowles' dog. We will dog sit until Kurt picks her up Wednesday. It is always nice to have a pet around for a little while. We always enjoy Reeses, Hershey, and Chippie, and, of course, the independent cat, Snickers. We've enjoyed Dodger and Striker Quigley-Stewart of Fort Myers, Florida, and Tilli Allott of Sault Ste. Marie. All cute cocker spaniels, guests of Lee Quigley the past two weeks.

Lorie Quigley and Joe Stewart are enroute to their home in Fort Myers after a three week vacation at the Quigley home on Lake Michigan. Sunday evening overnight guests at Lee's were Carol Burke of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and her mother, Sue Ann Burke of Sault Ste. Marie. Kay Allott of Sault Ste. Marie was a weekend guest, also.

Trinity Lutheran Church members have enjoyed our guest preachers in Pastor Tari's absence. Rick Weiss and Orv Kabot have delivered the messages the past two Sundays. Next Sunday, Jim and Jerri Rose will be in charge of the service.

Looks like some rain in our future. Time to work inside for a few days.
