Ontario Team Wins Munoscong Scramble

Frank Kutcher Sr. and Frank Kutcher of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, carded a 36-hole score of 124 to win the championship of the TwoMan Golf Scramble Tournament at the Munoscong Golf Club in Pickford Saturday, August 12, and Sunday, August 13.

In the championship flight, scores from Sunday only were counted for prizes, and the team of Wayne Hesselink Sr. and Wayne Hesselink Jr. recorded 63 to win on the first extra hole of sudden death. The team of Nick Griswald and Steve Markstrom placed second with 63, Barry O'Connor and Jamie Davidson took third with 63, Jim Brown and Jimbo Brown took fourth at 64, and Ron VanSummerin and Scott McLeod finished fifth with 64.

The first through sixth flights were determined on two-day totals as John and Ken Wilkie won the first flight with 130, followed by Tom and Eric Newton-136, Mike Avery and Sean Celestino-138, Murray Bryant and Stu Myers-138, and Ron VanSloten and Troy Connors-139.

Shane and Jeremy McDonald won the second flight with 136, followed by Ray and Jane Sirmons137, Jim Walsh and Joe Malone138, Dave Eddy and Mark Koski138, and Rich Cottle and Bryan Griswald-139.

Mark Dodson and Mark Gill won the third flight with 134, followed by Joel Peffers and Marty Blenkhorn-141, Anthony Skorich and Norm Dugas-142, Paul and Dave Postma-142, and Dick Sweeney and Jeff Savard-142.

Sonny Viet and Pat Andrews won the fourth flight with 142, followed by Jim Gleason and Ralph Hunt-143, Kurt Yacuone and Barry LaJoie-144, Brian Polhill and Kip Bradfield-146, and Rick Faust and Ron Clark-146.

Paul Soltys and Jim Parr won the fifth flight in a one-hole playoff with a 146, followed by Pat VanSloten and Jim Myers-146, Keith Izzard and Chris Haske-147, Keith and Ken Krahnke-148, and Harold Frazier and Mike Autore-148.

Jerry Wartella and Duck Smith won the sixth flight with 146, followed by Tom and Tim Ball-150, Nick DellaPenta and John Campbell-150, Ken Hruska and Rob Lennox-152, and Keith Hill and Wayne Wendt-153.

Dave Staoleford and Andre Trahan won the seventh flight with a one-day total of 74, followed by Ed and Frank Palarchio-75, Roger Jacobson and Brian Hanna-76, Eric Hillman and Don Dagnall-78, and Dave Miller and Jim Crocker.

The field was complete with 104 teams. During the special events, Harold Frazier and John Bentgen were closest to the pin on number two, Al Boal and Romano Carlucci longest drive on number three, Ken Weimer and Mark Bunker longest putt on number eight, Brian Hanna and Marty Blenkhorn closest to the pin on number nine, Keith Krahnke and Tom Newton closest to the pin on number 10, Jim Myers and Joel Peffers closest to the pin on number 11, Fred Raden and Bryan Griswald closest to the pin on number 16, and Norm Fleming and Adam Maas closest to the pin with second shot on number 18. Golf League

The team of Barry and Mary O'Connor and Brian Lander and Joyce Alley carded 29 (one eagle, five birdies, and three pars) with 12 putts for first place in the Munoscong Mixed Doubles Golf League Friday, August 18.

The foursome of Ed and Joyce DeWitt and Mark Miller and Natalie Dykstra took second with 32 and 13 putts. The group of Bill and Jan

Moore and Jim Smith and Marianne Douglas was the special event team winner with the highest score on the par three holes.

During the individual special events, Joyce DeWitt made the longest putt on number one, Brian Lander closest to the pin with third shot on number three, Barry O'Connor closest to the pin with second shot on number five, and Stu Murray closest to the pin with tee shot on number nine.

Munoscong Ladies Day

Golf League

Kim Rigatti carded now gross with 47 and Paulette Belair 35 for low net in the first flight of the Munoscong Ladies Day Golf League Wednesday, August 16.

Ione Barber recorded 54 for low gross and Gloria Smith 40 for low net in the second flight, Judy Olson and Judy Solths shared low gross with 57 and Jan Moore low net with 37 in the third flight, and Florie Dessardins with 59 for low gross and Gladys Baxter 39 for low net in the fourth flight.

Bev Vandergeest had the longest drive and Gloria Christensen the shortest drive.

Munoscong Seniors

Golf League

Tom Newton and Don Stevenson shared low gross honors with 37 during the Munsocong Seniors Golf League Thursday, August 17.

Eugene Ross recorded low putts with 12, Don Stevenson longest drive on number 14, Chuck Savitskie longest putt on number 18, and Sonny Veit closest to the pin with tee shot on number 11.
