Two of the longest registered football officials with the Michigan High School Athletic Association, Jim Lamoreaux and Gene Massey, will not officiate during the 2006 gridiron season.
Lamoreaux completed his 52nd season, while Massey registered his 45th year after the 2005 season. The pair have officiated more than 650 games together that included numerous playoff games.
Lamoreaux started refereeing football games with Bud Veceillo and Jim MacDonald and Massey joined the team after MacDonald left. Jack Ryerse later replaced Veceillo and the threesome was joined by Bob Kalbfleisch to form the first four-man crew in the Upper Peninsula. Officiating foursomes have since expanded to five-man crews.
