Historical Museum To Host Labor Day Weekend Events

Les Cheneaux Historical and Maritime museums in Cedarville will offer free admission Sunday, September 3, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The raffle drawings for a wooden canoe and quilt will take place that day.

The winning ticket will be drawn for a 12-foot, cedar strip, "Wee Lassie" canoe at 3 p.m. at the Maritime Museum. The vessel was built by Paul Wilson of Hessel, assisted by other volunteers.

A ticket will be drawn for the quilt called "Cabin in the Woods," at 4 p.m. at the Historical Museum. The rustic style quilt features a moose, bear, cabin, and tree figures, and has green, tan, red, and brown colors in its squares. The quilt also has more hand quilting detail than in previous years' quilts. It was made entirely by volunteer quilters in the winter and spring months.

Both museums will be open Monday, September 4, for the Labor Day holiday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The museums will remain open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Saturday, September 9.
