Bernis L. Hoss Bernis L. Hoss Bernis L. Hoss of St. Ignace worked at several St. Ignace area restaurants and shops, including Bel Isle, JFB Manufacturing, and the Souvenir Barn on West US-2.

Mrs. Hoss was 80 when she died Thursday afternoon, August 24, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace, following a lingering illness.

She was born March 19, 1926, in Allenville, to Pliny and Bertha (nee Marshall) Cornell, one of 12 children, and lived in the Carp River area most of her life. She moved into St. Ignace a few years ago and resided at Charters Cove apartments until her last illness.

She loved spending time with her family, who recall her "wonderful sense of humor." She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and caring for her dog, Peaches.

Mrs. Hoss is survived by three sons, Richard Trudo of Pinconning, Ron Trudo of St. Ignace, and Robert Trudo of DeTour Village; five daughters and their families, Sharlene Trudeau of Lansing, Leanne Trudo of St. Ignace, Terri and Steve Hoath of St. Ignace, Ronda and Mark Engle of St. Ignace, and Cheryl and Jim Rountree of St. Ignace; a brother, Richard Cornell of Auburn Hills, a sister, Evelyn Krueger of DeFord; 21 grandchildren, and 24 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Hoss in 1991, and by nine siblings, Crandal, Fenner, Harold, Theron, Marion, Vern, Donald, Dorothy, and Marshall.

Services were Saturday, August 26, at 1 p.m., at the St. Ignace Assembly of God Church in St. Ignace. Pastor Bob Moody officiated.

Burial was in Carp River Cemetery, near Carp River.

Her grandsons, Richard Trudo Jr., Gary Vertz, Paul Engle, Robert Trudo Jr., Jamie Hoath, and Derrick Rountree served as pallbearers.

Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.
