Jessica Warren Earns Spot on Western Michigan Cheer Team
Jessica Warren Jessica Warren, a 2005 graduate of LaSalle High School and a sophomore at Western Michigan University (WMU), is a member of the Broncos Cheer Team for the 2006-07 school year.
The former captain on the Saints squad is one of 17 members on the Broncos team, which includes 10 women and seven men.
Twenty-five women tried out for eight positions. They were judged on personal interview and the fight song plus stunts that included jump, cheer, and tumble.
The toughest part of the tryouts for Miss Warren was the tumbling.
"I didn't learn how to tumble until I took lessons during my freshman year at WMU," said Warren.
Each cheerleader was given 10 minutes to learn a potential cheer.
The daughter of Janet and Greg Warren is majoring in early child development and will be part of the squad that will cheer at the Broncos football, womens and mens basketball, and volleyball games during the school year.
