First Quarter Defense Lifts Eagles Over Brimley

Shauni Rutledge Engadine Shauni Rutledge Engadine First-quarter offense lifted Engadine to a 54-45 Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference (EUPC) win over Brimley Thursday, September 14.

The Eagles, 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the EUPC, outscored the Bays 2- 5 on the season and 0-4 in the league 12-4 in the first eight minutes before both teams tallied 13 points in the second quarter for a 25- 17 halftime score.

Engadine held a 17-12 margin in the third quarter to increase the lead to 42-29, and the Bays completed the game with a 16-12 scoring edge in the final period.

Elicia Derusha led the Eagles with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and six steals. Nicole Benoit added 13 points, nine boards, and five assists, Shauni Rutledge notched 11 points, Kristen Derusha chipped in seven, and Lauren MacArthur, Tiajanna Sherbrook, and S h a n n o n Browning tallied two points apiece.

Carrie Aikens scored 15 points to lead the Bays, while Amber Aikens added nine, Jessica Graham chipped in seven, Jenna Somes notched five, Sydney Wilson tallied four, Courtney Amble charted three, and Marissa Lawson marked two.

Eagles JV Post Win

Engadine junior varsity defeated Brimley 31-26 as Jessie Davis scored nine points and charted 10 rebounds. Kayla Miller added seven points, Linzee Bigelow chipped in six points, Elisa Hobbs contributed 10 boards, and Kacie Rutledge recorded five steals.
