Rudyard Splits Pair of SAC Games

Erin Jarvie Rudyard Erin Jarvie Rudyard Rudyard split Straits Area Conference (SAC) games, defeating Newberry 59-31 Tuesday, September 12, before falling to Sault High 73-51 Thursday, September 14.

Trio Scores in Double Figures

In the home contest with the Indians, Emily Jarvie scored 19 points, Corine Ross added 17, Kelli Koivisto chipped in 10, Betsy Wileman notched five, and Emily Jeffreys and Shantel Sorrell four.

The Bulldogs led 16-9 after the first eight minutes and cruised to a 49-12-halftime lead after outscoring the Indians 23-3 in the second quarter. Both teams scored 20 points in the second half, with Newberry holding a 13-9 advantage in the third quarter and Rudyard an 11-7 margin in the final period.

Bulldogs Drop First SAC Game

At Sault High the Bulldogs, 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the SAC, were led by Corine Ross with 16 points. Kelli Koivisto added 12, Emily Jeffreys chipped in 10, Erin Jarvie notched five, Shantel Sorrell tallied four, and Emily McDowell and Betsy Wileman both charted two.

Dani Fegan scored 17 points, Kayla Meehan added 12, Abbi Fegan chipped in 11, and Betsy Neuman tallied 10 for the Blue Devils.

The third quarter was the downfall for Rudyard after trailing by just one point at halftime.

Sault High led 17-13 after the first eight minutes before Rudyard held a 21-18 margin in the second quarter to cut the Blue Devils' lead to 35-34 at halftime.

The Blue Devils outscored the Bulldogs 25-9 in the third quarter for a 60-43 advantage, and closed out the contest with a 13-8 scoring edge in the final period.
