Hello, everyone.

The month of November seems to be flying by. Hopefully, the rest of the winter will also go by quickly.

The Newberry Eagles Club will hold its all-you-can-eat fish fry Friday, November 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the club on M-28 in Newberry.

There will be an all-you-caneat pancake brunch and bake sale, sponsored by the Manistique Lakes Lions Club, Sunday, November 19, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Community Building in Curtis. Cost for the brunch is $5 adults, $2.50 children.

The Chippewa Township Lions Club will have non-smoking bingo Monday, November 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Strongs Township Hall on M- 28, three miles east of Eckerman Corners.

"Curtis Aglow" will be Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25. "Light the Town," sponsored by the Curtis Chamber of Commerce and Curtis Community Arts Council, will be held Friday beginning at 6 p.m.

The holiday tree lighting, Santa's parade, music, and hot cider will be at Curtis Park. Holiday specials and treats will be available at area businesses.

"Shop the Town," sponsored by the Curtis Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be a Christmas bazaar at the Portage Township Community Building, craft show, Santa Claus, pasty sale, bake sale, Curtis Aglow gift basket, portable DVD player, and movie package raffle. Holiday specials and treats will be at area businesses.

Saturday evening, "Holiday Gala... Deck the Walls," sponsored by the Curtis Community Arts Council, will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn. There will be a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, and entertainment. Donation is $15 per person. All proceeds benefit Curtis Community Arts Council.

Christmas in Curtis is celebrating its 15th year with its bazaar on Saturday, November 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Portage Township Hall.

It will feature crafts, gifts, decorations, Christmas items, bake sale, pastie sale, candy, raffles, lunch, and photographs with Santa. For more information, call (906) 586-3700.

The Engadine Inter-faith Adult Chorus and Children's choir will present "Candles and Carols" under the direction of Stacey Legault-Davis, Sunday, December 10, at 7 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a few miles north of Engadine on M-117.

The Newberry United Methodist Church will have Thanksgiving Eve worship Wednesday, November 22, at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited regardless of denomination.

This worship is sponsored by the people of the First Presbyterian, Newberry United Methodist, Our Redeemer Lutheran, Saint Gregory's Roman Catholic, and All Saints Episcopal parishes.

The U.P. Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive Wednesday, November 29, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry. For an appointment, call Ruth Dake at (906) 293-5062.

Competition for the 36th Annual Elks Hoop Shoot, a national free-throw shooting contest for youngsters age 8 through 13, will be held at the J.L. DeCook Gymnasium in Newberry, Saturday, December 2, at 9 a.m. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the gymnasium.

Michigan State University Extension's 4th Annual Culture Fest will continue Thursday, December 7, with a program on Russia and conclude January 18 featuring the Philippines.

The free program series is for all ages. The first program on Brazil was held November 9. The program is held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Community Building basement in Newberry. It is sponsored by the Tahquamenon Area Senior Citizens.
