Cheboygan Public Library Gets Grant
The Cheboygan Area Public Library received a $47,500 grant from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. The funds will be used to build an art studio and gallery in the lower level of the renovated library.
The studio be used for classes in ceramics, painting, works on paper, and other activities, including wood carving and weaving. The first use of the new gallery
will be to hold the Key Ingredients and Michigan Foodways exhibits, sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute and the Michigan Humanities Council. The exhibits will take place in September 2007.
Members of the public will be able to use the space for personal art projects also. Construction of the studio and gallery will begin this fall and is expected to be completed by summer 2007.
