Saints, Wildcats Win Rudyard Lions Bridge Brawl
      St. Ignace was the winner of the Upper Peninsula division at the Rudyard Lions Club Bridge Brawl Friday, December 15, at Harris Kahl Gymnasium. Alpena clinched the Lower Peninsula division during the tournament. The format pitted the U.P. teams of St. Ignace, Manistique, Rudyard, Norway, and Negaunee against the L.P.

Raiders Sweep Black Bears in Volleyball, Basketball
      DeTour swept Maplewood Baptist Academy in a volleyball and basketball doubleheader at Richard Roan Gymnasium in DeTour Friday, December 15. Volleyball Match Coach Sara Galarowic and her Raiders defeated the Black Bears 25-13, 25-21, and 25-21 in the three volleyball non-conference matches.

Engadine Wins Home Opener
      After playing its first three games on the road, the Engadine basketball team returned home to dominate Grand Marais during a 74-26 non-conference win Tuesday, December 12. "It was nice to be playing at home after three games on the road," said Eagles Coach Elmer Albright.

Lakers Sweep Rockets in NLL Hoops, Volleyball
Lakers Start Basketball Season With 5-0 Run
      Mackinac Island opened the basketball season with five victories with the most recent wins being during a the weekend series with Paradise. The Lakers swept the Rockets 66- 61 Friday, December 15, and 69-48 Saturday, December 16, improving to 5- 0 overall and 2-0 in the NLL.

Saints Place 3rd at Inland Lakes Invite
      St. Ignace finished third during the Inland Lakes Volleyball Invitational as Saints senior Erica Ahlich was selected to the All- Tournament team by the coaches Saturday, December 16. The Saints defeated the host Bulldogs 25-21 and 25- 11, and split with Harbor Springs 21-25 and 25-16, and Posen (23-25 and 25-18).

Raiders Win Island Tourney; Ellis MVP
      After losing its first match of the day, DeTour stormed back to win 11 consecutive matches en route to the championship during the Mackinac Island Volleyball Invitational. Raiders senior Missy Ellis was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament by the coaches Saturday, December 9.
