A community Christmas party is planned to benefit the Meals on Wheels senior citizen nutrition program Thursday, December 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Action Agency Fenlon Center at 368 Reagon Street in St. Ignace. Everyone is invited to participate in the party, which will feature a dinner and musical entertainment. A donation of $5 to benefit Meals on Wheels is suggested, but “no one will be turned away from the dinner for lack of funds,” said volunteer Mary Nichols of St. Ignace.

“We have hungry people in our community, we have lonely people in our community, and we have generous people in our community, and we’d like to bring everyone together in a holiday spirit,” Ms. Nichols said. Don Wright of Community Action Agency, which administers the Meals on Wheels program, is coordinating the Christmas party.

Meals on Wheels served more than 32,000 meals last year to 900 senior citizens in Cedarville, Curtis, Engadine, and St. Ignace.
