After being inspired by the sight of the Mackinac Bridge during a week-long visit to the Straits area, Dalton Reimschisel, 10, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, returned to his home and built an elaborate wooden block model of the suspension bridge in his basement, impressing his parents and his grandparents, Oscar and Peggy Odem of Moran.

Mr. and Mrs. Odem moved to the Straits area nine months ago following their retirement in Fort Wayne.
