Casey Brake (left), the coordinator for the radio-controlled race car event held at Little Bear East Conference Center, explains the rules to the group of young drivers waiting for the first race of the day. Mr. Brake said the turn-out of participants was good. He plans to hold twice-monthly racing events at Little Bear East. Eleven racers, ranging from ages four to 38 years old, enjoyed an afternoon of radio-controlled car racing at the conference center of Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace Saturday, December 16.
Three class races were held during the event: stock truck, 118th skill, and beginner. The event was coordinated by Casey
Brake of St. Ignace. He said the event brought in about 30 spectators.
Mr. Brake is planning to hold at least two racing events per month at Little Bear East, with the scheduled event dates as follows: January 6, January 20, February 10, and February 24.
For all radio-controlled race car events, doors to Little Bear East Conference Center open at 9 a.m. Sign-up begins at 11 a.m. and racing starts at noon. Cost is $6 per class race. Rental vehicles are also available for $20, which includes the racing fee. Spectators are admitted free of charge.
