Raiders Sweep Black Bears in Volleyball, Basketball
Missy Ellis DeTour DeTour swept Maplewood Baptist Academy in a volleyball and basketball doubleheader at Richard Roan Gymnasium in DeTour Friday, December 15.
Volleyball Match
Coach Sara Galarowic and her Raiders defeated the Black Bears 25-13, 25-21, and 25-21 in the three volleyball non-conference matches.
In the first match, the Raiders dominated play, but during the final two matches, the teams battled hard before DeTour prevailed. In the second match, the teams were tied at 13 before the Raiders built a 18-15 lead, and held on to win by four. The Raiders had to hang on to a fourpoint lead in the third match to earn the victory.

Eleven players scored for DeTour as the Raiders outscored the Black Bears in every quarter on their way to a non-conference win.
The Black Bears held a 6-5 scoring edge at the 3:11 mark of the first eight minutes before Nathan Klamerus scored nine of his gamehigh 19 points to lift the Raiders to a 16-8 advantage after the first quarter. DeTour outscored Maplewood 14-9 in the second period and headed into halftime with a 30-17 lead.
Nathan Klamerus DeTour D e T o u r opened the second half with a 12-2 offensive run for a 42-19 advantage, but the Black Bears did not give up, turning the momentum in their favor with a 10-0 run. Allen Orr scored eight of his 14 points to cut the Raiders lead to 42-29 before Tom Munro scored the final five points of the quarter to send DeTour into the final period with a 47-31 margin.
Nine of 11 players scored for the Raiders in the fourth quarter, as DeTour outscored Maplewood to close out the win.
DeTour scored 28 field goals, six triples, and went nine-for-18 at the free throw line. Maplewood Baptist made 18 field goals and shot threefor 12 from the charity stripe.

DeTour Edges Alba
DeTour edged Alba 49-46 during a non-conference game Tuesday, December 12.
The Raiders led 11-6 after the first eight minutes before the Wildcats held a 15-10 margin in the second quarter to send the game into halftime tied at 21.
DeTour took a 32-28 advantage after three quarters with an 11-7 scoring run and hung on for a threepoint win after Alba held an 18-17 scoring edge in the final period.
