Raiders Win Island Tourney; Ellis MVP

After losing its first match of the day, DeTour stormed back to win 11 consecutive matches en route to the championship during the Mackinac Island Volleyball Invitational. Raiders senior Missy Ellis was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament by the coaches Saturday, December 9.

DeTour downed Maplewood Baptist Academy in the title match. The Raiders split with the Lakers before defeating Hannahville, Grand Marais, and Ellsworth in pool play, and upended Hannahville in the semifinals.

Raiders Stats: Missy Ellis, 26 points, 14 aces, six kills; Kelley Tomlinson, six points, 64 sets, five kills; Brianna Kuiper, 14 attacks, eight kills, Amber Burton, 14 attacks, five kills; Jessica McClellan, seven points, 15 attacks, seven kills.

Raiders Sweep Comets

DeTour swept Mackinaw City 25-18, 25-23, and 26-24 during a non-conference road match Monday, December 11.
