Mandi Johnson Named GLIAC North Top Player
Mandi Johnson Senior Mandi Johnson of Lake Superior State University (LSSU) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week.
Johnson, a former LaSalle High School standout, averaged 27 points, 8.5 rebounds, six steals, and three assists in the Lakers victories over Findlay and Northwood, including a career-high 28 points against Findlay.
She also tied her career-high and school record for most steals in a game (8) four times during her four years at LSSU. She shares the record with her sister, Randi Johnson, and Tammy Albon.
Johnson is ranked first in steals (3.63), third in scoring (19.4), and sixth in rebounding (7.3) in the GLIAC.

Loss to Central State
In a subsequent game, the Lakers fell to Central Lake of Ohio 59-54 in a non-conference battle Saturday, December 16. Johnson contributed 23 points and 12 rebounds for LSSU.

Game Winner at FSU
Two days later, in a game against Ferris State, Johnson scored with two seconds on the clock to lift the Lakers to a 74-72 win over the Bulldogs Monday, December 18.
Johnson scored 12 points, nine rebounds, and six assists as the Lakers improved to 4-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and 7-3 overall.
