Rudyard Bulldogs Fall to Sault High Blue Devils in SAC Hoops Matchup

Rudyard dropped a 66-33 Straits Area Conference match-up to Sault Ste. Marie Tuesday, December 19.

The Bulldogs fell behind early as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 15-0 lead and held a 20-4 margin after the first eight minutes and increased its advantage to a 36-9 lead at halftime, outscoring Rudyard 16-5 in the second quarter.

Sault Ste. Marie continued its offensive onslaught in the second half, outscoring Rudyard 30-24 in the second half, which included a 15-11 run in the third quarter and a 15-13 scoring advantage in the final period.

Bulldogs Stats: George Kinsella, nine points; Craig Wallis, eight points; Isiah Otten, six points; James Perry, four points; Chastin McKelvie, three points; Jeff Briggs and Robby English, two points; Josh McCollum, one point.

Rudyard won the junior varsity game, defeating the Blue Devils 58-52 as Arik Hesselink scored 19 points and Kyle Christiansen added 10.

The Bulldogs defeated the Blue Devils 53-38 in the freshman game as Ben Harter led the way with 21 points and Rick Gere chipped in 12.

Rudyard is off until after the holidays.
