Everyone is sure to enjoy "Summer Music in the Park" in Curtis at the park bandstand on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy Kelli Lyn Knott Wednesday, August 9, and "Driver" Wednesday, August 23. Admission is free, but please bring your own chairs.

The Diabetic Support Group will meet Thursday, August 10, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Huron Conference Room at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. Lunch will be provided.

The Newberry Eagles Club will have a Friday fish fry August 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Club on M-28 in Newberry. Enjoy all-you-can-eat fish or choose from their Friday menu. There will be an all-you-can-eat

whitefish dinner, including salad and dessert, Friday, August 11, at the Hulbert American Legion Post 393. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger The public is welcome.

The McMillan United Methodist Church will have a fish fry Friday, August 11, at the Columbus Town Hall in McMillan beginning at 4:30 p.m. For a $7 donation, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat fish, potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, roll, dessert, and beverage.

Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, August 14, through Friday, August 18, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Rexton Mennonite Church. This year's theme is called "Camp Turned Around." The Bible School is for children age 4 through the sixth grade. Seventh grade and older students are welcome to come as helpers. Dalmation Express presents the 34th Annual Corn Roast and Raffle Sunday, August 20, from noon to 11 p.m. at the Inwood Township Fire Hall in Cooks. Bingo will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. An auction will start at 1 p.m., with hundreds of items up for bid. Participants can dance to the live music of the "Bear Walkers" from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and, of course, enjoy all the corn you can eat for only $3. Children younger than age 5 can eat free. There is a lot more going on, so bring the whole family and friends. Everyone is welcome to attend. This event is sponsored by the Inwood Township Volunteer Fire Department "Dalmation Express" in Cooks.

The Luce West Mackinac County Fair is seeking contestants for the 2006 Little Miss and Fair Queen Pageants to be held Thursday, August 24, at 6 p.m. Applications to compete in the pageant can be picked up at McDonald's, Mac's Market, Rahilly's IGA, Room #2 in the Community Building, or at WNBY radio.

The search is on to find the 2006 Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year. In 100 words or less, tell why the person you picked should receive this award. Contestants must be a resident of either Luce or Mackinac counties. Send entries to: LWM County Fair, P.O. Box 581, Newberry, Michigan 49868.

Join the Naubinway-Engadine Merchants Association for the Seventh Annual Fall Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Naubinway Pavilion. There will be arts and crafts, food booths, and children's games and activities. This year's recipe contest is "Favorite Blueberry Recipe." Please have your entry in by 11 a.m. on the day of the festival. Judging will be at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the top three entries. There also will be a silent auction of "barns" on display by local artists.

Tickets are available for the ninth annual Ducks Unlimited Banquet Saturday, August 12. Deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday, August 10. There will be no sales at the door. The Engadine preschool is accepting applications for the 2006-07 school year. Children must be four years old on or before December 1. Call Diane Miller at (906) 477-6505 for an enrollment packet.

Plan now to attend the Manistique Merchants annual car show and antique and vintage snowmobile show, Saturday, September 2, on South Cedar Street in downtown Manistique. There will be food, and games and fun for all ages.
