Members of the LaSalle High School Class of 1956 gathered for a reunion Friday, August 4, and Saturday, August 5. Forty-three of the 71 classmates attended reunion events at Little Bear East Conference Center and St. Ignace Golf Course.
The group gathered at Little Bear East for an indoor picnic Friday.
On Saturday, the group gathered at the St. Ignace Golf Course for a buffet dinner. Each female classmate was given an orchid corsage
from class president Gil Ziegler, who now lives in Charlevoix. All the members received memory books, compiled by Mario Calcaterra, which included a page for each graduate headed by a copy of their individual graduation photograph and a current photograph, with a brief biography of themselves over a 50-year period.
Gail Becker of Brevort Lake led the group in a moment of remembrance for eight deceased classmates. A candle for each of them was lit in their honor. Judy King Britton of Gwinn gave the invocation.
Deacon Don Olmstead of St. Ignace welcomed his former classmates and Gary Adams, now of Madera, California, presented a toast to the class.
Judy Lee O'Brien, Ron Walker, and Larry Lasley were the winners of historic pictures of LaSalle High School.
The group ended the reunion with "When The Saints Come Marching In" and "America The Beautiful."
