Justin and Amber (nee Grondin) Bird of St. Ignace announce the birth of a son, Joel Steven Bird, born July 11, 2006. He weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and measured 19.5 inches in length at birth.

Grandparents are Steve and Jolene Bird of Moran and Jim and Barb Grondin of St. Ignace. Greatgrandparents are Ursula Smith and the late Joel Smith of St. Ignace and Rose Sliz and the late Bruno Sliz of Villa Park, Illinois.

The baby was named after his great-grandfather, Joel Smith, and his middle name, Steven, was taken from his grandfather, and his

father's middle name.
