Police reports from the St. Ignace City Police Department from August 29 and from Tuesday, September 12, to Monday, September 25:

A St. Ignace man was injured after running into the side of a moving vehicle in a grocery store parking lot Friday, September 22. The man told police that he thought the vehicle was going to turn left and began walking. The man walked into the side of the vehicle as it passed him. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital to tend to an injured leg and hand. No citations were issued.

A St. Ignace woman reported to police Wednesday, September 20, that the windshield of her vehicle was damaged. She believes someone took a sharp object, like a screwdriver, and tried to pry the windshield open. Police have no suspects.

A Moran man's parked vehicle was struck by another vehicle when the driver pulled into a parking space of an inn in St. Ignace and drove away Monday, September 18.

Two six-year-old girls, from Sturgis and Almont, were found playing on the beach at Straits State Park in St. Ignace minutes after police arrived on a call that the girls were missing from the state park around 6 p.m. Sunday, September 17. The grandparents of both children called police after searching for them unsuccessfully for half an hour.

A St. Ignace woman, who was allegedly intoxicated, was escorted out of the Mackinac Straits Hospital waiting room Sunday, September 17. The woman told police that she was waiting for her ride to arrive at the hospital. To avoid making a scene, the officer had the woman wait in his police car until transportation arrived 10 minutes later.

A St. Ignace man's backpack was stolen from his motorcycle in front of a North State Street restaurant Saturday morning, September 16. In the backpack, which was described as dirty with four zippers on it, were a black and silver iPod, a DVD burner, a battery pack for a laptop, wax and polish, computer cables, and a shaver, with a combined value of about $1,170. There are no suspects.

A 19-year-old Moran man was arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated and for having an open intoxicant in a vehicle. Three minors, all from St. Ignace, were also in the vehicle and were issued citations for minors in possession Sunday, September 17. Police stopped the vehicle after it backed out of a driveway without stopping and swerved across the centerline of the road. Police found open, full, and empty cans of beer in the vehicle, including in the trunk of the car. One minor, a 20-yearold, was arrested for violating his probation that forbids him from possessing or consuming alcohol. The case has yet to be heard in court and is still open.

A side window of a Cheboygan woman's red Ford van was smashed by an unknown suspect Saturday, September 16. Police report there was no entry into the vehicle, which was parked behind City Hall.

The tires from a Portland man's Cadillac Escalade were slashed and the vehicle's body paint was scratched by an unknown suspect Sunday, September 17. The man's vehicle was parked at the Little Bear East Conference Center parking lot.

A Glenview, Illinois, woman's handbag was found at Glen's Market by store employees Tuesday, August 29. The bag contained $880, a toaster, clothes, and a fanny pack with the woman's identification. The woman had reported the bag missing a month earlier and thought it was stolen while she was visiting the Sault Ste. Marie, Canada area, where she had been camping. Police called her and informed her that the bag was found and it would be shipped to her. She told police that although she did camp in St. Ignace, she did not have those items and money during that time. The case is closed.
