City To Flush, Inspect Fire Hydrants

The City of St. Ignace will flush, drain, and inspect hydrants from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 20.

The City is divided into 10 sections and each section is to be flushed separately, starting at the Water Plant, reported Les Therrian, director of Public Works. The last section to be flushed will be in St. Ignace Township. The hours flushing will be performed are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The procedure will involve two to three employees, using two vehicles. The first vehicle will be flushing the system, with the second vehicle pumping out each hydrant individually to keep them from freezing.

Residents may notice some cloudy water for a short time. Questions may be directed to 643-74851 (billing) or 643-9670 (plant).
