Design Marks Mighty Mac 50th Milestone

A graphic commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge has been developed by the Mackinac Bridge Authority and the Michigan Department of Transportation. It will be used during July and November events that include parades, ceremonies, demonstrations by iron workers, live history presentations, photograph displays, musical entertainment, fireworks, and the release of a commemorative medallion, said Barbara J. Brown, MBA member and chair of the 50th anniversary committee. The bridge opened to traffic November 1, 1957.
