Maroons Shut Out Bucks in Division Five

The St. Ignace Saints McCann Field was the site of the Division 5 Region 1 championship football game, which featured the Menominee Maroons shutting out the Roscommon Bucks 35-0 Saturday, November 11. The Maroons will advance to next week's state semifinals.
The teams battled to a scoreless first quarter before Menominee, the Class A-B Upper Peninsula Team of the Year, scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 21-0 lead.
In the second half, the Maroons scored a touchdown in each quarter while their defense kept the Bucks offense off the scoreboard.
Blake Chouinard rushed for two touchdowns from one and eight yards out and completed a 23-yard scoring pass to Kert Roubal. Matt Eisenzoph answered with a twoyard score. Matt Hansen closed out the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown.
The Maroons gained 323 yards of offense, while the Menominee defense held Roscommon to 95 total yards.
Chouinard rushed for 57 yards and completed five of six passes for 85 yards; Eisenzoph gained 85 yards on the ground; and Ethan Shaver notched 55 yards for Maroons Head Coach Ken Hofer, the Class A-B-C Coach of the Year.
The Maroons will battle Saginaw Swan Valley in the semifinal match-up next Saturday. The site is yet to be determined.

Division 7: Norway (10-2) vs. Muskegon Catholic Central (10-2), 7 p.m. Saturday, November 18
Division 8: Crystal Falls Forest Park (10-2) vs. Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart (10-2), 1 p.m.
Division 5: Menominee (12-0) vs. Saginaw Swan Valley (12-0), 4 p.m.
Championship games in all eight divisions will be played Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25 at Ford Field in Detroit.
