Our little community lost two very nice gentlemen last week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each family on their loss.

Former longtime Naubinway resident Bill Frazier, 69, of Englewood, Florida, passed away Wednesday, November 22, at Venice Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness with cancer. Bill was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed. Please keep his wife, June, and their family in your prayers.

Lifelong Engadine resident Walter Butkovich, 74, passed away Friday afternoon, November 24, at his residence under the care of his family and North Woods Hospice. Walt was a kind person and he will be sadly missed. Please keep his wife, Joyce, and their family in your prayers.

Thursday, November 30, the monthly commodity supplemental food distributions, sponsored by the C-L-M Community Action Agency, will be in Trout Lake at the Community Center from 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.; in Rexton at the Hudson Township Hall from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.; in Engadine at the Garfield Township Hall from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m; and in Curtis at the Portage Township Hall from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The Luce-West Mackinac County Fair Board will hold its annual meeting Thursday, November 30, at 6 p.m. at the Triangle Restaurant on M-28, east of Newberry. Annual dues of $1 per member will be collected prior to the meeting. New members are welcome. For more information, call (906) 293-8785.

The Newberry Eagles Club will hold a fish fry Friday, December 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the club on M-28 in Newberry. Enjoy all-you-can-eat fish or choose from the Friday menu.

The Chippewa Township Lions Club will offer non-smoking bingo Monday, December 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Strongs Town Hall on M-28, three miles east of the Eckerman Corners.

The Newberry Eagles Club will have pizza night Tuesday, December 5, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the club on M-28. Enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza or a pastie dinner.

The Luce-Mackinac Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, December 7, at 1:30 p.m. in the library at Engadine High School.
