Jay Robinson

Jay Robinson
Jay B. Robinson, 43, of Drummond Island, died Thursday, November 23, 2006, at his home.

He was born January 8, 1963, in Sault Ste. Marie, to William Charles and Freida May (nee LaPointe) Robinson.

A lifelong island resident, he attended DeTour Schools and then studied auto body repair at Northern Michigan University. He was a mason, working in his father's business, Robinson Construction Masonry. Mr. Robinson repaired and restored vehicles, specializing in Jeeps, in which he also enjoyed going for rides. Mr. Robinson enjoyed woodworking, and made many large, elaborate bird feeders that looked like houses, complete with stone fireplaces and walkways. He often donated a birdfeeder to be raffled at community fundraisers.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his parents, Bill and Freida Robinson of Drummond Island, and one son, Dustin Lynn Carl of Brighton. Also surviving are one sister and her family, Bonnie and John Tucker of Drummond Island; two brothers and their families, Vincent Robinson of Drummond Island and Martin and Shaney Robinson of Kalamazoo; nieces and a nephew and their families, Stacy and Eric Christensen, Michelle and Patrick Henry, Matthew and Michalle Robinson, Marie Robinson, Bethany Robinson, Elizabeth Robinson, Justine Robinson, and Jacqulyn Robinson; and great-nieces and nephews, Landen, Tyler, Haley, Nicholas, Jada, Jake, James, and Lilly.

Services were held Monday, November 27, at St. Florence Catholic Church on Drummond Island. Visitation took place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 1 p.m. with Father Jerry Nowacki serving as celebrant. Burial took place at Drummond Island Cemetery.
